MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Guangdong Provincial Academy of Sciences, China have signed a framework agreement to set up the China-Belarus innovation center of industrial technologies. The document was signed by Chairman of the Presidium of the NASB Vladimir Gusakov and President of the Guangdong Provincial Academy of Sciences Liao Bing during an online ceremony, BelTA learned from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
According to the document, the center will be set up to strengthen cooperation in science and technology under the Belt and Road initiative. Plans are in place to house it in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.
The center will select and check cooperation projects, conduct in-depth research and development, transfer scientific and technical achievements in accordance with the procedure established by the Belarusian legislation. The center will also act as an incubator for projects in science and technology. Belarusian and Chinese specialists intend to carry out joint R&D, provide consultations on a commercial basis. The parties believe that the center will contribute to systemic cooperation and exchange of achievements for their subsequent modification and transfer.
Researchers of the Academies of Sciences of Belarus and Guangdong Province have long-standing scientific ties, the press service said. About 40 agreements and protocols (memorandums) of cooperation have been signed with organizations and state establishments of the Chinese province, and two joint centers have been set up. In 2019, the Belarusian-Chinese R&D center for computer semantics, artificial intelligence systems, and smart technologies Wu Xing was set up at the Center for System Analysis and Strategic Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Guangzhou Education, Research and Technology Company Wu Xing. In 2019 the People's Government of the Haizhu District of Guangzhou, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Guangdong Union for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation with CIS countries signed a memorandum of cooperation to set up the Guangzhou Innovation Center at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
