MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Turkey is ready to increase the number of flights to Belarus with assistance of Turkish air carriers. Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the statement as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on 11 November, BelTA has learned.
The Turkey President said that ways to step up cooperation in transportation affairs had been discussed during the talks in Minsk. In particular, the Turkish side is interested in increasing the number of flights performed by Turkish air carriers to Belarus, including flights performed by private air carriers. According to the Turkish head of state, the increased number of flights would be conducive to economic cooperation, too.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “We should do everything to bolster trade and economic relations and fill the gaps in our relations. We should introduce new mechanisms of interaction to reach this goal.” The Turkey President said he believes that the Belarusian-Turkish intergovernmental commission on trade and economic affairs would contribute to that.
