MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – More Turkish businessmen should work in Belarus. Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the relevant statement during expanded-participation talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on 11 November, BelTA has learned.
The Turkish head of state underlined he was satisfied with results of the visit to Minsk. He described the agreements the sides had reached as effective. Since the very first moment the Turkish delegation was in Belarus, members of the delegation have been feeling genuine hospitality of the Belarusian side.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he believes that his arrival in Minsk symbolizes the mutual interest of the sides in further expanding their contacts in anticipation of the 25th anniversary of establishment of Belarusian-Turkish diplomatic relations. The anniversary will be marked in 2017.
“We hope that our relations will reach an even higher level,” said the Turkey President.
The opening of the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk is of particular importance for Belarusian-Turkish relations. The fact that the sides have signed an entire package of bilateral documents on various areas of cooperation is also important. The documents were signed to expand trade and economic cooperation among other things. In particular, ways to raise Belarus-Turkey trade to $1 billion were discussed during the negotiations in Minsk.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “Turkey is the country that has invested a lot of capital in Belarus and is ready to continue encouraging more Turkish businessmen to start working in Belarus and expand investment contacts.” The Turkish side is interested in stimulating investment cooperation, which should develop at an even faster pace thanks to support at the top level.
