MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Gazprom Transgaz Belarus presented abilities of vehicles powered by gas engine fuel as part of the expo held during the Belarusian Industrial Forum. The company expects the number of buyers of these vehicles to rise as new manufacturing enterprises are opened in Belarus, BelTA learned from Vladimir Mayorov, Director General of OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus.
“Here we demonstrate vehicles powered by natural gas and are intent on popularizing this kind of vehicles as most cost-effective, environmentally friendly and ahead of competition in all parameters. There are new manufacturers in Belarus, including BelGee, which create new consumers for us. It is very good,” said the Gazprom Transgaz Belarus head. He pointed out that the Belarusian company works with Russian Gazprom and the Belarus government to encourage the trend. The relevant program and action plan have been developed.
Vladimir Mayorov remarked that Gazprom Transgaz Belarus took part in the expo as “a serious energy player. While it is an industrial forum, it has vivid energy overtones, which is confirmed by the composition of participants”. Speaking about energy industry, the executive mentioned that natural gas is used to generate over 90% of Belarus’ electricity and over 60% of the country’s heat energy.
The 19th Belarusian Industrial Forum opened in Minsk on 12 May. This year’s event is focused on manufacturing cooperation on the market of the Eurasian Economic Union. The forum’s business program features over 15 events, including an expo of energy and electrical technology equipment used in the production sector. The plenary session involving representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission also took place. A traditional contest of welders, the fifth exchange of subcontracts, international forums will be held as well.
