MOGILEV, 4 November (BelTA) – OAO Mogilevliftmash is an example of smart investment and effective management, Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media after a visit to the Mogilev elevator engineering plant, BelTA has learned.
“There are a lot of large industrial enterprises in Belarus which were built in the USSR. All of them were successful in the past. Many have been working hard to achieve the performance of their best years,” the prime minister said. “For example, in 1991 when Liftmash was still a Soviet factory, it produced a record high 14,400 elevators. After a decline in production, the factory reached this milestone in 2018 by producing 14,500 elevators. This year it is set to manufacture more than 14,600 elevators. This is a good example of how smart investment and effective management can help a company to reach new highs. The goal is to increase this figure in the coming years. Today, at a meeting with the factory's management, we discussed the current situation at Mogilevliftmash and the plans for 2021-2022. The company in Mogilev is a good example of how, with effective planning and business processes, the state, as an owner, can receive good dividends and also increase production volumes and economic returns from enterprises. Mogilevliftmash hold a significant share on the neighboring markets. This is an example of how to work, win and hold positions,” Roman Golovchenko added.
During the visit, the prime minister got familiar with the technological processes and finished products made by Mogilevliftmash. These are all kinds of elevators, escalators, travolators, automatic parking systems.
“Our company is export-oriented. About 60% of the output is bound for export. We will continue working in foreign markets. For this we need to develop, try something new and look for new markets. We regularly roll out new models of elevators, which are more interesting, comfortable and economical. The Russian Federation is our main market. Our relations with the regions of Russia are developing very well. Recently, we hosted delegations from Primorsky Krai, Omsk Oblast. They were interested in our products both to replace old elevators and to equip new buildings,” Director General of OAO Mogilevliftmash Sergei Chertkov noted.
In addition to the elevators, the prime minister got familiar with automatic parking lots. "These are brand new products for our plant. Now we are testing these parking systems but they are already of interest to our customers. These systems save space, which is very important in a big city," said Sergei Chertkov.
The continuation of the program to replace elevators in Belarus was discussed. "The three-year program to replace elevators in our country is ending this year. During this time, more than 10,000 elevators were replaced in apartment buildings. This work will continue next year. Plans are in place to replace 960 elevators in 2021 and 1,300 in 2022. A five-year program has already been developed and a corresponding presidential decree is being prepared," Sergei Chertkov said.
According to him, the meeting with the prime minister was productive. "We discussed the results of the current year, looked at the plans for the next year, talked about the prospects for development and work in foreign markets. We looked into all estimates, discussed the problems. In general, the meeting was held in a working and positive way," said Sergei Chertkov.
