MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and the State of Texas, USA will advance partnership in trade, education and culture. The relevant matters were discussed during the meeting of Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky and Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
Vladimir Domanevsky leads the Belarusian delegation that will stay in the State of Texas on an official visit through 19 March. During the meeting in Austin, Texas Vladimir Domanevsky and Carlos Cascos exchanged letters confirming their readiness to advance partnership in the spheres of trade, education, technologies, and culture.
The Texas Secretary of State was informed about opportunities for business and investment cooperation with Mogilev Oblast. The sides discussed avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation between Mogilev Oblast and the State of Texas.
The first session of the Belarus-Texas Business Cooperation Council discussed events that will be carried out under the Council’s aegis. The Belarusian delegation, representatives of Texas’ government and business circles took part in the session.
Apart from that, the third Belarus-Texas economic forum took place in Houston during the visit. Members of the Belarusian delegation met with Texas partners on the sidelines of the forum to discuss matters concerning the advancement of mutually beneficial cooperation, said the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is expected to receive the Belarusian delegation today. The Belarusian delegation is also expected to meet with representatives of The Woodlands city administration. An agreement on bilateral business partnership between The Woodlands and the Belarusian city of Bobruisk will be signed.
The visit of the Belarusian delegation to Texas, USA is expected to contribute to the advancement of interregional cooperation between Belarus and the United States of America. It will also help reveal prospects of expanding the choice of Belarusian commodities, which are exported to the USA. The Belarusian delegation includes heads of Mogilev Oblast’s top companies operating in food industry, petrochemical industry, mechanical engineering industry, representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Belarus in the USA, the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Honorary Consul of Belarus in Texas Geert Visser.
