MOGILEV, 9 June (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and France are expected to make a focus on the development of economic and interregional cooperation. The intention was voiced at the meeting between France’s Ambassador to Belarus Didier Canesse and Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky in Mogilev on 9 June, BelTA has learned.
According to the diplomat, it is his first visit to Mogilev Oblast to get familiar with the potential of the region. In his words, France is interested in the development of cooperation with the region in all the areas, with the focus on the economy. On the first day of the visit, 8 June, the Ambassador paid a visit to two industrial companies: Unimilk Shklov (a milk processing company with the investment of France’s Danone) and Servolux, a company specializing in poultry production and processing. “I have seen that one of the companies of the main French investor in Belarus, Danone, operates efficiency in Shklov and is ready for further development. I was also impressed with a high level of technologies used in poultry production at Servolux. This shows that Belarus has been extensively modernizing its industry, and here, France’s rich experience, including that in processing agricultural products, can be useful,” Didier Canesse noted.
In his words, France’s share in Belarus’ foreign trade balance is not so big. “We would like to increase it. For this, we need to study in detail the major areas of activity of mutual interest and work out concrete projects and proposals,” he said. On 9 June the parties discussed possible cooperation and partnership in household waste recycling and portable water treatment. The diplomat also took note of the efforts to intensify cooperation in education and the rapid development of the center of information resources of the French language and culture at the Kuleshov Mogilev State University. The Ambassador promised to increase the support.
In turn, the Mogilev Oblast governor emphasized a favorable investment climate in the region and good doing business opportunities. The Belarusian official suggested considering a number of investment projects for the participation of French businessmen in the development and modernization of the agricultural processing sector, construction industry, the production of alcoholic drinks, and other projects. “We are also interested in resuming and developing interregional cooperation, tourism and more active interaction in culture to promote friendship between our nations,” the governor stressed.
He invited Didier Canesse to take part in the upcoming big events of the region. These will be the international folk festival Wreath of Friendship in Bobruisk and Kupalle festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) in the agro-town Alexandria, Shklov District.
On 9 June the diplomat is expected to visit Kuleshov Mogilev State University, get familiar with the potential of FEZ Mogilev and present certificates of the French embassy to the students of school No.11.
