Mogilev Oblast, Czechia’s Usti Region sign cooperation memorandum

MOGILEV, 22 June (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and Czechia’s Usti Region signed a memorandum of cooperation in Mogilev on 22 June. The document was signed by Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky and Usti Region Governor Oldrich Bubenicek, BelTA has learned.

Oldrich Bubenicek told media that the document is primarily aimed at fostering cooperation in economy, culture, education, and tourism. “It is the foundation for bringing our nations closer, for making friendship and neighborly relations stronger,” said the Usti Region Governor.

According to Vladimir Domanevsky, there is a great potential for developing interregional cooperation between Mogilev Oblast and Usti Region through the implementation of joint investment projects involving the modernization of the Belarusian economy, the establishment of joint ventures and manufacturing cooperation. “We invite the Czech side to have a look at major mechanical engineering enterprises that are actively developing and diversifying target markets. Off the top of my head I can mention OAO Mogilevliftmash, which successfully promotes merchandise to the European Union. In Q1 2015 the company sold 47 lifts to Western Europe. We would like our cooperation, including within the framework of the memorandum that was signed today, to develop more actively and contribute to the promotion of our joint products to emerging markets,” stressed the Governor.

In his words, Mogilev Oblast is also interested in promoting cooperation in the sphere of medical services, recreation and tourism. Mogilev Oblast is interested in the experience accumulated by Usti Region and Czechia as a whole in the area. “We would like to utilize it for the sake of developing our southeastern regions, including for the sake of promoting our services to the East — to the Russian Federation,” said Vladimir Domanevsky. “We should help our citizens visit Czechia more often, learn its culture and traditions while Czech delegations could attend various events in Belarus. It is very important that we carry on cultural exchange at the regional level and learn more about each other. It will bring our nations closer, will give a new impulse of cooperation in all spheres of life.”
