MOSCOW, 25 March (BelTA) – The twinning relations agreement between Minsk and Russian Kaluga has been signed by Chairman of the Minsk City Hall Andrei Shorets and Acting Mayor of Kaluga Konstantin Baranov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.
The agreement was signed at the meeting of the Belarusian delegation with the Governor of Kaluga Oblast Anatoly Artamonov. During the negotiations the sides discussed main priorities of Kaluga Oblast’s investment policy and successful projects in car manufacturing, pharmaceutical industry, transport and logistics, agribusiness. Apart from that, the meeting focused on productive cooperation between Belarus and Kaluga Oblast in housing construction. For example, Belarusian builders of OAO Mapid partake in the construction of a residential district Malinovka. The project envisages the erection of five residential houses.
“There are many cooperation avenues which were not discussed at the today’s meeting. In particular, our enterprises can become resident companies of the special economic zone Lyudinovo. Agriculture and wood processing are in the zone of our common interests,” Andrei Shorets said.
Anatoly Artamonov, in turn, stressed that there are plans to enhance cooperation between Belarusian and Russian towns and regions. “We are interested in developing scientific, educational and cultural cooperation. But economy will be the locomotive of our business relations,” he said.
The Belarusian delegation visited a number of infrastructure projects of Kaluga Oblast, in particular, industrial parks and companies located there.
In accordance with the agreement between Minsk and Kaluga, a multi-purpose fair complex Belarusian Market for the wholesale and retail trade of Belarusian foodstuffs and other products will be built in the Pravoberezhye district of the Russian oblast capital.
The Belarusian side will also set up a big logistics center in Kaluga.
