MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – The eighth international armaments and military hardware expo MILEX will take place in Minsk in May 2017, BelTA learned from Vladimir Lavrenyuk, spokesman of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus.

According to the source, a working group has been set up by the State Defense Industries Committee to take care of preparations for and the actual expo. The group is led by the Committee’s First Deputy Chairman Igor Bykov, who is in charge of the overall supervision and coordination of efforts aimed at preparing for and arranging the actual international weapons expo.

The Committee has prepared and adopted a plan of the main measures for preparing for and holding the weaponry forum. Documents are being prepared to become the foundation of the Belarus government’s decisions concerning the expo’s organization. The work on preparing the forum’s concept is supposed to be finished by 25 March.

The state-owned weaponry exporter and defense solutions provider Belspetsvneshtechnika is the general sponsor of MILEX 2017.

The next year’s weaponry expo will try to highlight modern trends on international armaments markets and capabilities of the Belarusian defense industry. The expo will also try to motivate the development of certain trends in the State Defense Industries Committee and Belarusian defense industry enterprises. The exhibitors will be asked to present conceptually new products (new or promising samples of weapons, military and special hardware).
