MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - New points of growth have been identified in trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast, Belarus’ Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said at a joint session of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast (Russia) on 27 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
Last year the Belarusian Economy Ministry was made responsible for cooperation with Russia’s Vladimir Oblast.
The meeting was held as a video conference and was chaired by head of the Belarusian part of the working group Aleksandr Chervyakov and Vladimir Oblast Deputy Governor Arkady Botsan-Kharchenko. Attending the meeting on Belarus’ behalf were representatives of the Economy Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry, Bellegprom, Industry Ministry, Housing Utilities Ministry, Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, and regional executive committees. Russia was represented by departments of economic development, agriculture, housing utilities, nature management and environmental protection, architecture and construction of Vladimir Oblast, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian region.
The meeting highlighted trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast, including in industry, agro-industrial complex, exhibition and fair activities, construction, housing utilities, and interregional cooperation.
“The previous year, as we all know, was very difficult because of the pandemic. It had an impact on the trade between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast. Last year mutual trade amounted to $244 million, down 6.7% from 2019. I believe that we need to fix the situation in trade this year. We have prerequisites for this. Many points of growth were identified during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Vladimir Oblast in October 2020. They include cooperation in light industry, mechanical engineering, construction, agriculture and other areas,” Aleksandr Chervyakov said.
The minister invited a delegation from Vladimir Oblast to Belarus to get familiar with the domestic enterprises. This will help strengthen Belarusian-Russian cooperative ties in both industry and agriculture.
