MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov is taking part in the Hongqiao International Economic Forum and the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
“Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and China is on an increasing trajectory of development. China is our second biggest trade partner. Last year we reached a record-high trade of nearly $6 billion, and Belarusian exports to China soared 77%. This year, the mutual trade has already come close to $5 billion,” Aleksandr Chervyakov said at the thematic event “Demonstration Zone of Regional International Organizations: New Platform and New Initiatives within the Belt and Road International Cooperation”.
According to the economy minister, a comprehensive strategy of joint industrial development is the core of further investment cooperation. It includes the launch of new production facilities in machine building, as well as in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. It also about the production of agricultural and food products using high Chinese technologies and Belarusian competencies, as well as joint developments in these sectors.
As BelTA reported earlier, the Belarusian national exposition is on display at the China International Import Expo 2023 in Shanghai, which opened on 5 November. More than 150 countries representing regions of Asia, Africa and Europe are taking part in this year's event. Belarus will showcase its best achievements in a large-scale country pavilion, as well as in commercial pavilions.
