MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - Japanese Marubeni Corporation is considering expanding cooperation with Belarusian partners in the chemical industry, Senior Corporate Advisor at Marubeni Corporation Wataru Yoshida told reporters after the meetings with Belarusian government officials, BelTA has learned.
"We are interested in cooperation with Belarus and would like now to focus on investment activities in the chemical industry," said Wataru Yoshida.
Currently, Marubeni is participating in the project at Mozyr Oil Refinery to build a unit for hydrocracking of heavy oil residue (manufactures and supplies Japanese reactors).
Marubeni is a multifunctional trade investment company. The main lines of business is the implementation of investment projects in foreign countries and supply of Japanese equipment and technology in such areas as infrastructure, mining, processing and transportation of energy resources, the production of chemical products. As a supplier of equipment Marubeni together with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation participated in the investment project to upgrade the polyester fibers production at Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno. The $31.5 million loan agreement was signed with the Japanese bank.
