MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – The Russian company X5 Retail Group is interested in increasing the share of Belarusian foods sold via its retail chains. The statement was made by Stanislav Naumov, X5 Retail Group Director for Interaction with Government Agencies, before the conference of sales representatives and Belarusian cheese manufacturers in the Belarusian Trade Ministry.
Stanislav Naumov said: “We are interested in increasing the share of Belarusian products on shelves of our stores. I think with assistance of the Belarusian Trade Ministry we will be able to analyze ways to increase sales in Russia.”
The executive specified that the share of Belarusian products is roughly on par with the share of products made by Russian manufacturers. “Belarus is a strategic partner for us from the point of view of the entire dairy category. We would like to increase this share,” concluded Stanislav Naumov.
Belarusian Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich pointed out that increasing export is a high-priority task for the country. “Today we are arranging a meeting with a large trade corporation and would like to talk about our mutual relations,” stressed the Minister. He specified that the conference would primarily focus on dairy exports to Russia.
X5 Retail Group runs several food retail chains (Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Karusel, Perekrestok Express) and is one of the largest food retailers in Russia. At present in the evolving Eurasian Economic Union the company closely cooperates with various Belarusian food producers. Cooperation is tightest with manufacturers of dairy products, including cheese.
