VETKA, 28 April (BelTA) - It is necessary to develop the Polesie state radiation and ecology reserve and Pripyat National Park, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a conference with Gomel Oblast officials on 28 April, BelTA has learned.
During the meeting, the president recalled the need to develop the Polesie reserve and the Pripyats National Park. This year the reserve has been transferred from the Emergencies Ministry to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
“We understand that there is no emergency there now. But how does the reserve work under current conditions? Has order been preserved there? I know that you are engaged in beekeeping, fish farming there. Plants, animals, especially rare and red-listed animals feel perfectly well without anthropogenic burden. Przewalski's horses live there, too. It is a paradise for scientists. Tourists will also be interested in such things. Do we use this biodiversity,” the president said.
