ROGACHEV DISTRICT, 13 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was made familiar with the development and beautification of rural populated localities within the framework of the Village of the Future project as he visited the agrotown of Tikhinichi, Rogachev District, Gomel Oblast on 13 August, BelTA has learned.
The project covers a total of over 170 agrotowns and villages all over Belarus. Plans have been made to transform 23 populated localities in Gomel Oblast into villages of the future including the pilot project in the agrotown of Lyaskovichi.
The populated localities have been divided into five levels depending on their population: the first one – over 700 residents, the second one – 500-700 residents, the third one – 200-500 residents, the fourth one – 50-200 residents, and the fifth one – up to 20 residents.
“People may live primarily in agrotowns at some point in the future. May god allow us to preserve second-level villages,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state drew attention to the development of the production sector in villages of the future. “The production sector has always been lagging behind. Schools, shops, community centers, roads, and so on were seemingly everywhere. But the production sector was lagging behind. We gave homes to people but they needed decent jobs, too. This is why we should also take care of the production sector,” the president stressed.
In the last two years road infrastructure in Tikhinichi was repaired, new social and sport facilities were repaired and built, and the territory of the agrotown was beautified. The manufacturing sphere of municipal enterprises was upgraded as well.
The work to accomplish Tikhinichi and transform the agrotown into a village of the future will continue till 2025.
