Lukashenko: No reason for Russia to fear Belarus’ presence in its information space

Lukashenko: No reason for Russia to fear Belarus’ presence in its information spaceMINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – There is no reason for Russia to fear Belarus’ presence in its information space, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the press conference for the Russian regional mass media on 17 November.

The head of state noted that Russian journalists are probably better professionals, but they have something to learn from their Belarusian colleagues in terms of integrity, content and value of materials. “We have never let ourselves infringe on Russia’s interests by showing some things and omitting others. Why are you afraid of our presence in your information space?” Alexander Lukashenko asked.

The Belarusian leader believes such opportunities to speak with representatives of the Russian regional mass media are very important because the journalists can help people in remote regions of Russia to learn more about Belarus. “We should continue this form of cooperation. You are important for us, I say this sincerely,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The Belarusian head of state also talked about cooperation in culture. Russia regularly hosts Days of Belarusian Culture and vice versa. The countries hold joint publishing and exhibition projects. Belarus is considering participation in a cultural forum to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
