MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering is capable of meeting all the needs of farmers, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting to discuss rural development and efficiency of the agricultural sector, BelTA has learned.
"If one of the governors hopes to purchase some machines abroad, then I recommend them to abandon these fantasies. Absolutely. We recently discussed this in detail at a meeting on the manufacturing sector. You’d better not cite the quality as the reason. Especially today," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state noted that any equipment can malfunction, but the domestic machines are maintained at a very high level.
"The Belarusian mechanical engineering can meet all your needs, especially in cooperation with the Russians. But it's time we upgraded the country's machine and tractor fleet. Today, agrarians (not only domestic ones) need machines with high throughput, more powerful tractors, harvesters, feed distributors and so on," the president said.
He instructed to update the program tasks and ensure the production of the entire line-up of highly efficient machines. It is also important to train machine operators to operate this sophisticated equipment, he added.
