Lukashenko: Belarus and Turkey should transition to manufacturing cooperation and mutual investments

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey should transition to manufacturing cooperation and mutual investments. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the opening ceremony of the Belarusian-Turkish business forum in Minsk on 11 November, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that the level of interaction between representatives of the Belarusian and Turkish private sectors does not always live up to the trustful contacts established between politicians and government agencies of the two countries.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed: “Moreover, the unstable situation in our regions and economic crises impel us to consider the need to transition to a better quality level of cooperation that relies on joint manufacturing and mutual investments. All the conditions have been enabled for it.”

The Belarusian head of state pointed out that Turkey offers a promising platform for deploying joint ventures to make Belarusian machines and vehicles, for localizing the manufacturing process and for promoting the end products to the Middle East and Africa.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked: “Belarusian companies are ready to build relations with their Turkish partners in a way as to use the local components instead of simply assembling Belarusian machines and vehicles. The approach will stimulate industrial growth in allied industries. Besides, we view Turkey as a most important source of high-tech investments for the sake of setting up new manufacturing enterprises in our country. They will primarily target the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

The President stressed that the companies that invest in Belarus get free access to the Eurasian Economic Union market. Such companies are guaranteed free movement of goods, services, capital, and workforce. Equal business operation terms are enabled as well as unified technical regulations, common sanitary, veterinary, and phytosanitary norms.

“The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is being vigorously built now. I would like to direct your attention to the fact that the project is going international in the full sense of the word because companies from various countries have expressed their desire to contribute to the project,” said the head of state.
