GRODNO, 26 May (BelTA) – Over 100 businessmen and representatives of the local administration from Lithuania will take part in the 12th Belarusian-Lithuanian economic forum which kicks off in Lida on 26 May, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Andrei Sviridov.
The forum will take place in Lida on 26-27 May. The Belarusian delegation will be led by Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Yaroshenko. The Lithuanian delegation will be headed by Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas. “The major themes for discussion at the forum will be trade, economic and investment cooperation, first of all in agriculture, transport and tourism,” Andrei Sviridov noted.
Grodno Oblast will showcase samples of its agricultural equipment. Lithuania shows interest in its acquisition.
The forum will also display the tourist potential of Grodno Oblast: spa resorts, Augustow Canal, adventure and medical tourism. Investors will be offered projects for implementation in the mechanical engineering, agriculture and other areas. Talks are envisaged to discuss the participation of the Lithuanian capital in the reconstruction of Svyatsk Palace in Grodno District.
A number of documents will be signed, including an agreement on cooperation between Lida and Lithuania’s Marijampole. Arvi Group plans the implementation of new projects in the region. Earlier, the foreign company launched an animal by-product processing plant in Grodno Oblast. The company is also building a turkey processing plant there.
The forum will include talks between the Grodno Oblast authorities and representatives of the Lithuanian company VMG on setting up Lithuania-funded woodworking companies in the oblast.
