GOMEL, 3 November (BelTA) – The strongest argument in favor of cooperation with Belarus is the stability of this country, Beirut Governor Ziad Chebib told journalists after his meeting with Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Dvornik on 3 November, BelTA has learned.
Ziad Chebib noted that the visit of the Lebanese business delegation to Belarus is aimed at the establishment of cooperation between Gomel and Beirut Province of Lebanon. “First of all, we are interested in tourism and construction. We are also eager to study the potential of Belarus' Gomel Oblast, its industrial capacities,” Ziad Chebib said.
He pointed out that the two-day visit will provide the Lebanese businessmen with a great opportunity to establish ties with representatives of the sectors of Belarus’ economy they are interested in, take part in discussions and negotiations organized with the support of the Gomel Oblast Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). “I believe in mutually beneficial cooperation between our regions. I am very enthusiastic about it. The dynamism of the Arab people and the stability of your country can mark the beginning of our successful cooperation,” Ziad Chebib emphasized.
Members of the Lebanese delegation met with Gomel Oblast government officials to discuss opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. The sides focused their attention on business and education. In particular, they talked over the possibility of training young Lebanese citizens at Gomel Oblast universities. The delegation made a decision to visit one of the universities of this Belarusian region.
The program of the visit also includes a meeting at the Gomel Oblast Office of the BCCI. The event will be attended by heads and representatives of 24 companies and organizations of Gomel Oblast. Besides, the Lebanese delegation will pay a visit to OAO Institute Gomelproyekt.
On 4 November, the Lebanese guests will visit a number of industrial enterprises located in Gomel.
