GRODNO, 20 April (BelTA) – Latvia is ready to help Belarus advance its goods to the European market, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Belarus Martins Virsis said at the meeting with Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov, BelTA has learned.
According to the Ambassador, Latvia is interested in expanding trade with Belarus. In his words, certification issues often impede the access to new markets.
“The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Latvia is ready to provide assistance to your companies in this area. The chamber has a center of expertise which specialists can share their experience in certification and getting access to the European market,” stressed Martins Virsis. In his words, it is necessary to develop more actively joint projects in business, establish ties between entrepreneurships. FEZ Grodnoinvest may become a good platform for it. The logistics potential of Grodno Oblast is of interest as well.
There are prospects for tourism development. Martins Virsis noted that Belarus may interest Latvian travel agents. “The country is interesting for its rich history, unusual historical sites,” he explained. In the area of tourism and also environment, programs of cross-border cooperation play a big role in the development of relations between the regions. Special attention will be attached to the implementation of such projects.
Martins Virsis hailed good partner relations between cities and regions. In Grodno Oblast Novogrudok, Lida and Korelichi actively cooperate with Latvian regions in economic, cultural and other areas. The countries also establish ties between universities: joint programs are implemented by the Grodno State Agrarian University and the Latvian University of Agriculture.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Belarus Martins Virsis paid a visit to Grodno Oblast on 20 April. He held meetings with the local authorities, got familiar with the potential of FEZ Grodnoinvest, visited the Grodno Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
