Krutoi: Belarus, Russia’s Tatarstan have great cooperation potential in IT

MOSCOW, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Tatarstan have great potential for cooperation in information technology, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said during his visit to the city of Innopolis near Kazan in Russia’s Tatarstan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“We believe that innovative solutions of Innopolis resident companies can be of use to our industrial giants like MAZ, MTZ, BelAZ. We also expect a considerable effect from cooperation between Innopolis and the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park and the academic community in the most popular segments of the IT industry: unmanned technologies, computer vision, creation of digital doubles,” the ambassador said.

The city of Innopolis has a university and a free economic zone. It is one of three science cities in the Russian Federation (along with the Skolkovo Innovation Center near Moscow and the Koltsovo center in Novosibirsk) that were established to develop information technologies and innovative solutions. Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov, the ambassador visited several infrastructure facilities of the IT city and the Innopolis Special Economic Zone. Among them was the Center for Technologies in Robotics and Mechatronics Components of Innopolis University. The center includes a robotics center, a center for unmanned technologies, an artificial intelligence laboratory, an electronics and microelectronics design center and a support and development sector.

The Belarusian diplomat also visited the Popov Technopark and InnoPark. The latter was opened in December last year and has an area of more than 12,000 square meters. It focuses on projects in robotics, electronics, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
