Kommunarka to launch confectionary exports to Canada, South Africa, Vietnam in 2016

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – In 2016 Kommunarka Confectionary plans to launch exports to Canada, South Africa and Vietnam, BelTA learned from the company’s press service.

“In 2016 we will continue our work on the diversification of exports. Work is under way to start supplies to Canada, South Africa, and Vietnam, to resume exports to Tajikistan and Estonia, and expand the geography of deliveries in China,” the company said.

Kommunarka supplies about 20% of its output abroad. Deliveries to Russia account for almost 80% of the total exports.

In 2015 Kommunarka exported 3,916 tonnes of products to the tune of $9.8 million, which was up 28.9% from 2014. The geography of deliveries was expanded to 18 countries. Kommunarka now supplies its products to Russia, Azerbaijan, the United States, Moldova, China, Mongolia, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Israel, Georgia, Czechia, and Australia

Kommunarka traces back to 1905 when Georgy Rachkovsky founded a coffeehouse with confectionery and bakery products. The company got its present name in the late 1920s. In 1994 it was transformed into a joint stock company. In 2011 the Kommunarka brand was recognized as the most expensive in the confectionery industry of Belarus (according to international experts, it cost over $32 million).

Today Kommunarka is a large modern confectionery with flow-mechanized lines and powerful production and technological capabilities specializing in the manufacture of candies, caramel, chocolate, and cocoa products. As of 1 January the company employed over 1,800 professionals.
