Kobyakov on oil import sources: Belarus is considering all options

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Belarus has been trying to secure oil supplies from other sources, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said in an interview with Reuters, BelTA has learned.

“We are working on the diversification of supplies, and it is natural for a country that does not have its own sources of oil to meet its needs,” the head of government said.

According to him, this is not only about the restrictions that Russia introduced on its oil deliveries in the second half of 2016. “It is a consequence of the decisions taken by the government of the Russian Federation,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that “after a certain period of time the terms of oil supplies will be the same for Belarus as a member of the integration union as the terms of oil supplies that exist in the world.

“You should always have the alternatives in order to be able to compare. Azerbaijani oil is this alternative, but not the only one. “This option is one of the best-elaborated but not the only one. We are considering other options,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
