Kobyakov: Belarus-Russia trade back on track

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Belarus-Russia trade by volume is back to the previous level but the gap is still substantial in what concerns the monetary, U.S. dollar- dominated, terms, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the expanded-attendance meeting between the Presidents of Belarus and Russia on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

The Prime Minister of Belarus stated that in January-April 2016 the physical volume of the Belarusian export to Russia totaled 105.9%, that of the Russian export to Belarus reached 100.7%. “In natural terms we have already restored the growth. In the monetary terms calculated in the U.S. dollars the mutual trade contacted by almost 40% in comparison with 2014. Thus, the Belarusian export to Russia has been gradually growing in terms of the volume. But this is not happening in the monetary terms,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

The Belarusian PM emphasized the need to discuss one of today’s pressing issues, which are the fundamental approaches to determining the price for Russian gas supplied to Belarus. “There are two aspects: economic and legal ones,” the Premier said.
