Karankevich: Belarus is keen to boost trade with Russia’s Yakutia

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) - Belarus is eager to build up bilateral trade with Russia’s Yakutia, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said as he met with the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of Russia Aisen Nikolayev in Minsk on 30 September, BelTA learned.

Belarus is very eager to boost bilateral trade, Viktor Karankevich noted. He outlined the prospects for cooperation in the manufacturing sector and drew the delegation's attention to the Belarusian engineering goods.

"In the light of the large-scale investment projects in the mining industry in Yakutia and the need to replace sanctioned imported equipment, we have the opportunity to increase cooperation both in terms of traditional deliveries of heavy-duty dump trucks and in new avenues. Enterprises of Yakutia are already familiar with the quality of BelAZ heavy-duty vehicles, self-propelled vehicles of AMKODOR and MTZ," the deputy prime minister said.

In addition to quarry machinery and mining equipment, Belarus is ready to meet the needs of the region in any engineering products: freight, municipal, special and agricultural ones.

"We can also provide mechanisms for financial support of supplies and high-quality warranty and post-warranty service. Should you choose our equipment and consistently high volumes of supplies, we are ready to consider organizing a center for sale and maintenance of Belarusian equipment in the Republic of Sakha," Viktor Karankevich said.

Taking into account the high volumes of residential development and also large-scale projects for the integrated development of the territories of Yakutia, Viktor Karankevich lauded the capabilities of Belarusian design organizations that have been successfully working in various regions of Russia. In addition, one of the promising areas of cooperation is unmanned aircraft. "We have gained sufficient experience in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, the scope of which is very wide. This is aerial photography, monitoring of construction sites, housing and utilities facilities, roads, energy, use for the needs of the environmental protection system, agriculture, transportation of goods," the deputy prime minister said.

Being aware of the successes of Yakutia in the IT sector, Belarus is ready to cooperate with the Republic of Sakha in this avenue too. "I refer to cooperation with the Hi-Tech Park and the Great Stone Industrial Park in terms of replacing software imports," Viktor Karankevich emphasized.

Belarus also sees good reserves for deepening cooperation in the agricultural industry. For example, the parties can exchange experience, technologies, and specialists. "Belarus is ready to intensify its participation in the agriculture development programs in Yakutia. I propose to consider our accumulated experience and technologies in animal husbandry, breeding, and the training of professional personnel for the agricultural sector. All this has already proven effective for the agricultural sector of our country," Viktor Karankevich said. Belarus can meet the needs of Yakutia in terms of equipment for agricultural complexes, dairy farms, greenhouses and also veterinary drugs, mixed feed for pigs, cattle, poultry, and fish.

Belarus is also keen to step up supplies of food products, which are popular in Russia thanks to their high quality. "We are also ready to discuss the prospects for the supply of Yakutia products to Belarus," Viktor Karankevich said.

Another promising area of cooperation, in which Belarus has competencies, is water treatment. "Belarus can supply equipment for water treatment and wastewater disposal with high specifications. This equipment has such important competitive advantages as low monthly maintenance costs, high treatment capacity, and the availability of the necessary solutions for mobile stations," the deputy prime minister observed. “Belarus implements standard projects of waste processing plants and waste sorting complexes for mixed or separate collection and transportation of municipal and household solid waste. We have technologies for mechanical and biological processing of MSW. There are also opportunities to supply modern MAZ garbage trucks.”
This is only a part of the proposals to intensify trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Yakutia, Viktor Karankevich added. "It is important for us to understand your vision and interest in order to identify growth points in all industries," Viktor Karankevich said as he addressed the head of Yakutia.
