MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Plans have been made to launch the joint production of MAZ freight vehicles in Vietnam by the end of the year, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the extended meeting with Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang on 27 June, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about Belarus’ presence on the Vietnamese market, Alexander Lukashenko noted that important steps have been made in this direction. “Plans have been made launch the joint production of MAZ freight vehicles in Vietnam by the end of the year. We may also set up a new facility to produce city passenger buses in the future,” the president said.

He remarked that further mutually beneficial cooperation of the Belarusian manufacturer of quarry equipment BelAZ with the Vietnamese corporation Vinacomin and other companies will give an additional impetus to the development of the mining industry in Vietnam.

OAO MAZ is going to set up two joint ventures for the industrial assembly of freight vehicles (the joint venture MAZ Asia) and passenger equipment (the joint venture MAZ Zenit) in Vietnam. MAZ Asia is building its own plant for the assembly of freight vehicles in Hung Yen Province in northern Vietnam. Plans have been made to finish the construction in Q4 2017. The work to create a dealer network for the sales and service maintenance of finished products of MAZ Asia in a number of Vietnamese cities in underway.

The main exports of OAO BelAZ to Vietnam are dump trucks with the capacity of 45 tonnes. There are good prospects for the beginning of the export of dump trucks with the capacity of 130 tonnes to Vietnam. The mining corporation Vinacomin has confirmed its interest in this equipment.
