MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq Hassan Chuird Al-Hamdani hopes that his visit to Belarus will lay foundation for the development of trade and economic relations with Belarus. The Iraqi guest made the statement as he met with Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Guminsky on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
“The major goal of our visit is to develop relations with the Belarusian parliament. We hope that our today’s meetings will lay foundation for the development of relations in various spheres, including the trade and economic area,” said Hassan Chuird Al-Hamdani.
The two countries have been enjoying friendly relations for many years. It should remain so in the future, the MP said. “The current visit is a step in this direction,” he added.
According to Viktor Guminsky, the Iraqi parliament has already made its first step towards the development of a new vector in bilateral relations. It has ratified the agreement on the joint protection of investments. It provides a basis for the implementation of various projects in the trade and economic sector. “We have seen at the meeting that Iraq is interested in developing all-round relations with our country, be it healthcare, education, military-technical or parliamentary cooperation,” he noted.
