Iran to step up efforts to grow trade with Belarus to $1bn

MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Iran is determined to scale up efforts to expand trade with Belarus up to $1 billion, Chairman of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) Masoud Khansari said in an interview with BelTA. Masoud Khansari leads a large Iranian business delegation that is on a visit to Belarus on 23-26 July.

In his words, the delegation of over 20 business people came to Minsk in order to give a fresh impetus to bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Masoud Khansari believes that everything is in place to boost the bilateral trade up to $1 billion as was agreed at the highest level. He is convinced that the visit will result in substantial progress in resolving some sensitive issues.

According to Masoud Khansari, the most promising areas of cooperation include mechanical engineering, pharmaceutics and agriculture.

Masoud Khansari unveiled some details of his visit to Minsk. For example, on 24 July the Iranian delegation will take part in the Belarus-Iran business forum arranged jointly with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The participants of the forum will speak about business opportunities in the two countries. Belarusian and Iranian executives will be able to hold talks to discuss cooperation prospects in the banking sector, production of medical and pharmaceutical products, gas equipment, agricultural machinery, building materials and machinery, petrochemical and oil refining industries, production and supply of foodstuffs. The program also includes visits to a number of Belarusian enterprises.
