VITEBSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Contacts established during the Belarusian-Chinese interregional business forum will allow invigorating investment, trade, and economic cooperation between Belarus and China, BelTA learned from Sergei Yurkevich, head of the administration of the free economic zone Vitebsk.
“Taking part in the forum, we saw interest in free economic zones on the whole and in our enterprises. In particular, in the logistics project, which is being implemented in Bolbasovo, Orsha District. There is interest in medical equipment made by one of our resident companies,” noted the official.
The head of the free economic zone Vitebsk administration stressed that the zone is intent on considering options for setting up joint ventures and the Belarusian-Chinese interregional business forum that took place in Minsk on 11 was a good starting platform for it. “The establishment of contacts was the key part of the forum. We learned about Chinese partners, they learned about us. It will allow invigorating investment, trade, and economic cooperation. Because for now there are no foreign direct investments from China in Vitebsk Oblast,” stated Sergei Yurkevich.
The delegation of the Heilongjiang Province government and business circles visited Vitebsk on 12 May. Members of the delegation were made familiar with investment projects of the oblast capital and the free economic zone Vitebsk, which was represented by eight enterprises. “Some of them have concrete cooperation proposals. Other ones just presented their capabilities and stated they are ready for cooperation. The most important thing is that Chinese partners saw them and can suggest something if they are willing to,” added the head of the free economic zone Vitebsk administration.
