MOGILEV, 14 July (BelTA) – The town of Gorki will host an international conference on woodworking industry and human impact on forest resources on 14 and 15 September, BelTA learned from the administration of the free economic zone (FEZ) Mogilev.
The forum will gather around 200 businessmen from Belarus, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey, Slovakia, France, and China.
Belarusian State Academy of Agriculture will be the venue for thematic workshops and discussions, bilateral negotiations with representatives of Belarusian and foreign companies, meetings with representatives of competent government agencies and exporters of timber products. The participants will also visit the leading woodworking enterprises of Belarus’ Mogilev Oblast, study the engineering and transport infrastructure of free investment areas in FEZ Mogilev, exchange solutions and practices, and share modern approaches to environmental protection and rational use of natural resources.
The program of the forum includes environment-themed events. For instance, the businessmen will be invited to take part in a bicycle eco-race held as part of the Plant a Tree project, and also in events celebrating traditional Belarusian culture.
“It is not by chance that Gorki was chosen to host the forum. Mogilev Oblast is a unique region for the development of woodworking business. The availability of many varieties of wood and easy access to the resources, coupled with the presence of highly qualified specialists and preferences offered in FEZ Mogilev – all this creates very favorable conditions for the development of the sector. These factors contribute to rapid development of projects of enterprises of the woodworking cluster,” FEZ Mogilev representatives noted.
The companies of the woodworking cluster of FEZ Mogilev have invested some €430 million from 2010 to 1 June 2017. During the period, they reported output worth over Br960 million, exports of over $550 million and some 2,000 new jobs.
