MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry is working on the possibility of arranging international transportation between Belarus and China by road, representatives of the ministry told BelTA.
A delegation of the Chinese Transport Ministry met with representatives of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry in Minsk on 26-27 April. The sides discussed the development of international transportation by road. Consultations about the Belarusian-Chinese draft intergovernmental agreement on international road transport took place, too.
The experts worked out a preliminary version of the draft agreement and agreed to submit it for the intrastate approval process. Another round of negotiations on the document is supposed to take place in September 2018.
The Belarusian side also informed the Chinese colleagues about what is being done for Belarus to accede to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization intergovernmental agreement on favorable conditions for international road transport. Belarus’ accession to the agreement will contribute to the development of transportation with China.
In order to study conditions for international road haulage between Belarus and China the sides agreed to get together with interested parties and associations in order to organize an automobile caravan. It is supposed to demonstrate the high degree of Belarus-China mutually beneficial cooperation, including within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.
