MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is the first one in Belarus to get an Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) certificate of the European Union as a testimony to the park’s exemplary environmental standards, BelTA learned from Kirill Koroteyev, First Deputy Director General of SZAO Industrial Park Development Company.
The executive said: “It is the first time an EMAS certificate has been granted in Belarus as a testimony to our exemplary environmental standards. This certification is considered the world’s state-of-the-art management system in compliance with sustainable development principles.”
EMAS is meant to improve environmental protection work, contribute to the constant improvement of environmental parameters of organizations. The certification is a voluntary step. The certificate enhances the positive image of the certified organizations, demonstrating they recognize their responsibility for clean environment.
