Interest in Belarusian-Italian joint ventures in mechanical engineering, woodworking

China-Belarus industrial park Great StoneSMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 4 October (BelTA) – Italy is interested in setting up joint ventures with Belarus in the area of mechanical engineering and woodworking, BelTA learned from Giuseppe Carboni, Belarus’ honorary consul in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, as the consul visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 4 October.

According to the source, Italian technologies can also be used for making food in Belarus. “Italy is a long-time partner of Belarus. The countries have a lot of agreements. Belarusians and Italians have learned how to work together,” said Giuseppe Carboni. He also mentioned Belarus’ advantageous geographical position.

The honorary consul underlined the importance of Belarus-Italy interregional cooperation. “We intend to arrange Belarusian Education Days in Cagliari in 2018. The year 2017 has been declared the Year of Belarusian Culture on the island of Sardinia,” he said.

Giuseppe Carboni has been an honorary consul for ten years. In his opinion, the Belarusian economy develops rapidly. “Minsk is a modern capital city in a modern country,” he added.

The first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus began on 3 October. On 4 October the diplomats visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone and went on a tour of Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ.

At present 80 honorary consuls represent and protect rights and interests of Belarusian citizens in 56 countries. The consuls are also expected to facilitate the advancement of friendly relations, the expansion of political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, scientific ties and other kinds of ties with foreign nations. As a rule, areas of responsibility of Belarus’ honorary consuls include industrial and financial centers. The consuls themselves enjoy well-earned respect in political and business circles.
