Indian private sector encouraged to do more to implement joint projects with Belarus

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarus expects the Indian private sector to step up efforts in the implementation of joint projects. The relevant statement was made by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich as he met with a delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 5 June, BelTA has learned. Mikhail Myasnikovich is in charge of overseeing cooperation with India.

The head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted that the advancement of political and parliamentary contacts between Belarus and India is slightly ahead of cooperation of the Belarusian and Indian business circles. Mikhail Myasnikovich said he hoped that the delegation’s visit would contribute to more vigorous business. “We have everything to allow the business communities to work more effectively: political will, a proper legal framework, and concrete projects,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus invited the Indian businessmen to discuss cooperation in a number of avenues of mutual interest such as mechanical engineering, pharmaceutics, textile industry, and military technology.

Belarus and India have historically enjoyed a high level of friendly relations along the political track and in relations between the two nations. Mikhail Myasnikovich reminded that the Belarus president visited India in September 2017. Serious political decisions were made then. A number of agreements to regulate trade, economic, and investment cooperation were signed.

The delegation includes representatives of major Indian companies, which may potentially invest in joint manufacturing projects. The day before the delegation visited the construction site of the multimodal industrial and logistics complex Bremino-Orsha in the town of Bolbasovo. They praised the investment potential of the project.
