MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – The harvest season 2018 in Belarus is coming to an end, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 23 August, Belarus harvested 1.94 million hectares planted to cereal and leguminous crops, which is 96.4% of the sown area. The country harvested more than 5.12 million tonnes of grain already, with the average yield of 26.4 centners per hectare. As of 23 August 2017, Belarusian agrarians cropped more than 7 million tonnes of grain.
The harvesting campaign is almost over in Brest Oblast and Minsk Oblast, with 98.8% of the areas cropped. Grodno Oblast harvested 98.3% of its areas, Mogilev Oblast - 96.3%. Gomel Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast cropped 95.3% and 89.8% of the areas respectively.
