KALUGA, 10 February (BelTA) - Kaluga Oblast, Russia has fruitful ties with Belarus, and there is a lot of evidence to prove it, Governor of Kaluga Oblast Vladislav Shapsha said at a meeting with Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, who is paying a working visit to the region, BelTA has learned.
“We have long-standing, fruitful and friendly relations, and there is a lot of evidence to prove it. First of all, this is, of course, the construction industry. Many enterprises, including producers of medical goods and heavy equipment, actively cooperate with Belarusian enterprises to our mutual benefit,” the governor said.
One of the recently implemented projects was the renewal of the fleet of public transport in the city of Obninsk. “The choice fell on the Belarusian manufacturers, and I am sure that this result of our joint work will be appreciated,” Vladislav Shapsha emphasized.
Belarusian agricultural equipment is also widely used in the region. “It is a very productive experience,” said the head of the region.
“Mutual trade is growing: it increased by half last year. The volume of trade operations is estimated at $230 million - this is almost one third of the region’s trade with the CIS countries. Of course, we are interested in expansion of investment cooperation, expansion of partnership,” the governor said.
During the meeting Dmitry Krutoi handed over an official invitation to Vladislav Shapsha to visit Belarus. “We are ready to develop our business ties and are ready to discuss all the areas of cooperation during our upcoming visit to Minsk,” the governor promised.
