“Ryazan Oblast maintains long-standing friendly relations with Belarus. Today's trade exceeds $80 million. Many of our companies have established direct contacts with Belarusian counterparts to enjoy close trading ties,” said Oleg Kovalyov.
The Governor stressed that the region places high importance on cooperation in light industry, production of building materials, transport vehicles, medical equipment. “Belarus’ farm equipment is very popular with Ryazan agrarians. The residents of our region have seen the true value of other goods as well,” he added. According to Oleg Kovalyov, there are all the grounds to strengthen cooperation in a whole range of areas, increase the mutual trade and intensify cooperation between companies.
“Belarus has been actively cooperating with Russian regions, including Ryazan Oblast. The potential for cooperation is big, and we should strengthen our ties in the new economic conditions. We should help business find new areas of interest, including through joint manufacturing facilities. These projects can be implemented in mechanical engineering and light industry. We must make our manufacturing more competitive. We are ready to step up trade and intensify cooperation. This will promote our economic cooperation in the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union,” Alexander Zabello said at the meeting.
The parties discussed joint efforts to develop production, strengthen trading relations, intensify exhibition activities, as well as the ways to expand markets for the companies of Belarus and Ryazan Oblast, export of goods and improvement of their quality.
