GOMEL, 2 April (BelTA) – Cooperation in mechanical engineering was in focus of the meeting between Gomel Oblast Governor Gennady Solovei and the delegation of Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
Gennady Solovei spoke with Bryansk Oblast Acting Governor Nikolai Luchkin and Deputy Chairman of the Bryansk Oblast Duma Vitaly Belyai. The parties discussed ways to strengthen social and economic ties, including prospects for expanding the presence of the Belarusian harvester manufacturer Gomselmash in the market of Bryansk Oblast.
The parties also talked about the visit of a delegation of Gomel Oblast to Bryansk Oblast in April. The program of the upcoming visit includes strengthening cooperation in various areas, including construction, trade, and economy.
These two neighboring regions have maintained long-standing fruitful cooperation and friendly ties.
Russia is the main trading partner of Gomel Oblast. It accounts for around 63% of Gomel Oblast trade. In 2020, Russia-Gomel Oblast trade equaled around $4 billion. In 2020, Gomel Oblast’s main export markets among Russian regions were Bryansk Oblast, Moscow Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Its major exports included farm machinery, meat and dairy products, metals, cables and ropes.
