GOMEL, 17 June (BelTA) - Prospects of partnership between Belarus’ Gomel Oblast and China’s Hebei Province were discussed by Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko and Governor of Hebei Province Wang Zhengpu during the official visit of the delegation of the Belarusian southeastern region to China on 15 June, BelTA learned from the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
“We confidently move towards each other, develop our cooperation - economic and humanitarian ties in the spirit of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership and iron brotherhood. Gomel Oblast is interested in developing cooperation with Hebei Province and increasing mutual supplies of high-quality goods,” Ivan Krupko said.
The Gomel Oblast governor outlined three steps on the way to increasing trade, economic and investment cooperation. These are supplies of quality food products of Gomel producers to Hebei, joint industrial projects implemented with the preferences of the Gomel-Raton free economic zone, and also joint investment projects in agriculture.
“The bilateral partnership has a strong foundation, and I am sure that we will continue developing it. We would like to focus on the development of interregional cooperation,” Wang Zhengpu emphasized during the meeting.
The Chinese region is interested to cooperate in machine building, logistics, supply of raw materials of traditional Chinese medicine. There is a demand for the purchase of agricultural products from Gomel Oblast, chemical fertilizers, meat and dairy products.
The plan of events and exchanges for 2024-2025 was signed between Gomel Oblast and Hebei Province to promote the deepening of friendly relations between the regions, practical cooperation in various fields. Ivan Krupko suggested setting up a joint working group for detailed elaboration of the project proposals. Wang Zhengpu supported the idea.
The Gomel Oblast delegation has comprised directors of large industrial and forestry enterprises, business representatives. The program of the visit includes meetings and negotiations, discussion of promising areas of bilateral cooperation in economic and humanitarian areas, signing of important documents, participation in a business forum and an international trade and economic fair.
