Gomel construction companies ready to take part in post-war reconstruction of Syria

GOMEL, 19 May (BelTA) – Construction companies of Gomel Oblast are ready to take part in the reconstruction of the housing and social infrastructure in Syria destroyed as a result of military operations, the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.

Areas of possible cooperation were discussed during a meeting between Deputy Head of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Gorbachev and Governor of Homs Province Talal Al-Barazi who heads an official delegation which is visiting the region.

The Syrian delegation was informed in detail about the capabilities of the building industry of Gomel Oblast, its technologies and expertise. Local companies can perform works of any complexity, including design and construction of facilities on a turnkey basis.

During the Gomel Economic Forum, which will take place on 20 May, Gomel Oblast and Homs Province are expected to sign relevant documents which will serve as the basis for future partnership.

An estimated 605 delegates from 29 countries will take part in the 13th Gomel Economic Forum. Among the participants are official delegations, members of embassies, workers of banking and financial establishments, businessmen. Interest in the forum has been showed from highly developed countries such as China, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands. Partaking in the forum apart from Belarus will also be Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Vietnam, Finland, Mongolia, and Tajikistan. Attending the forum for the first time will be representatives of Austria, Ireland, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Syria.
