Golovchenko: MAZ needs to be resilient to external shocks
Roman Golovchenko

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ needs to be resilient to external shocks. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as he visited the company on 12 June, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko said: “On the whole, we should look at the resilience of the company to external shocks, at its competitive ability at present, at whether financial flows allow steady operation, and at what else the government can do to support the company in today’s complicated situation.”

Roman Golovchenko pointed out he had not chosen MAZ for his first visit as the head of government by accident. “It is one of the brands that have made Belarus famous. Matters of stable operation, steady development of MAZ are surely in focus of the country’s leadership and the government,” the prime minister said.

Roman Golovchenko noted that today is quite a difficult time for all automobile engineering and mechanical engineering companies but the issues MAZ encounters are not limited to consequences of the coronavirus – frozen shipments, lower sales on traditional markets.

“The government has done a lot to provide financial aid but let’s see how effectively it is used. If necessary, let’s see what else can be done, naturally on the basis of mutual commitments,” Roman Golovchenko concluded.

During the tour of the company premises the prime minister saw MAZ products, including the first electric bus. Roman Golovchenko also talked to the team of MAZ-SPORTauto pilots, who are getting ready for the Dakar 2021 rally.
