GRODNO, 2 May (BelTA) – A German company intends to participate in the construction of an oncology center in Grodno. The statement was made during a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar and Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Kravtsov, BelTA has learned.
The parties touched upon public and private partnerships. One of the projects in this area is the construction of an oncology center in Grodno.
“We recently held talks with one of the German companies who expressed interest in taking part the project and in helping us find partners,” Vladimir Kravtsov noted. Ambassador Peter Dettmar underlined that the German Embassy in Belarus will also join in and will make maximum effort for the project to be a success.
The parties also discussed investment cooperation. Ambassador Peter Dettmar noted that it will be possible to talk about concrete steps only after getting familiar with the potential of the region. Promising areas for cooperation are mechanical engineering and instrument-making, light industry and woodworking.
“This is my first visit as Ambassador to the regions, and it is with great pleasure that I have visited Grodno Oblast which I have positive memories. I already had a meeting with officials of the Free Economic Zone Grodnoinvest and got acquainted with its capacities. In the region there is already a joint venture with the Belarusian-German capital. There is an interest to have their number increased,” Ambassador Peter Dettmar noted. He stressed that the region has the potential of cooperation with Germany not only in economic but also in cultural and educational fields.
The German Ambassador visited Kupala Grodno State University to discuss cooperation in the field of education, secondary school No. 15 with in-depth study of the German language and the recently renovated Lutheran Church in Grodno.
