MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Georgia are planning to open Georgia House in Minsk on 25 August, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus Valeri Kvaratskhelia said at a press conference dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, BelTA has learned.
According to the ambassador, the Georgian prime minister will attend the opening ceremony as this event is very important for Georgia. “Georgia House will be a store with some exhibition space where customers will be able to get acquainted with goods from Georgia, sample and buy them,” Valeri Kvaratskhelia said. The store will also host various presentations and press conferences.
One of the topics of the press conference on 22 May was tourism. In January-April 2019, for example, some 9,000 Belarusians visited Georgia, which was 42% year-on-year. When asked about the prices for the Belarus-Georgia flights, the ambassador said that the country is negotiating ways of making flights cheaper with the Belarusian air carrier Belavia but so far no agreement has been reached. Belavia will soon open another flight, to Georgian Kutaisi. The parties are also considering launching the Brest-Batumi air service. Valeri Kvaratskhelia noted that there are a lot of ways to promote tourism between the two countries.
