MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – The Garlyk mining and processing factory will bring great economic benefits to Belarus and Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 11 May, BelTA has learned.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan are jointly implementing a large-scale project to build a mining and processing factory to produce potash fertilizers. “This is a colossal, immense project. I think that it will bring us great economic benefits,” the president pointed out. Potash fertilizers are in demand not only in agriculture but also in many other sectors, he added.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov praised the work of the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation. He expressed hope that Belarus and Turkmenistan will find opportunities for boosting bilateral trade.
As for humanitarian cooperation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the Belarusian side for training young citizens of Turkmenistan to become highly qualified specialists.
