MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – International experts have studied Belarus’ experience in licensing and supervising the construction of nuclear power plants, BelTA learnt from the Communications and PR Department of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Gosatomnadzor.
The experience was exchanged at the seminar, Support and Assistance in Enhancing the Potential of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry/Gosatomnadzor in Licensing and Supervising the Construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant. Partaking in the seminar were representatives of 16 Belarusian organizations – potential participants in the technical support system of the regulating body, including experts from Germany, France, Lithuania, Ukraine.
The seminar included an exchange of experience in the organization of technical support of the Belarusian regulatory body in nuclear and radiation safety (Emergencies Ministry), the discussion of the required competence and resources for its implementation in the short-term and long-term perspective. In the course of the seminar more than 50 representatives of the participating companies who expressed their wish to act as experts in nuclear and radiation safety issues within their engineering, technical and scientific competence.
Gosatomnadzor presented a procedure of getting a license on running safety evaluation in line with the legislation and getting access to carrying out safety evaluation by workers of scientific and other organizations.
