MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – The Austrian company Fischer Sports may launch the production of skiing equipment in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with participants of the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games on 29 March, BelTA informs.
“All the problems of winter sports will be discussed at the nearest meeting. I have made all necessary instructions, regarding skis and ski poles. We are currently in talks with Fisher. They are ready to move their production here from Ukraine, as they cannot supply Russia from Ukraine,” the head of state said.
He noted that he had the opportunity to test the products himself. “Excellent skis. If they bring production here, we will have skis for training high-level athletes,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
The president also stressed the importance to develop the production of necessary sports equipment in Belarus.
The participants of the meeting discussed sports equipment for athletes with disabilities, and in particular, special ski sledges. “We need to buy the best equipment for our athletes,” said Alexander Lukashenko. He added that it is possible that Belarus will be able to design even better models than their foreign analogues.
“We need to buy the world’s best equipment, bring these samples here and see if we can produce them. If not, we will purchase the best equipment for you,” the president stressed.
