First Belarusian harvesters, electric buses roll off assembly line in Azerbaijan

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – A new assembly line was officially launched at the Ganja Auto Plant. The grain harvester КЗС-575 Palesse GS575 and electric bus E-321 rolled off the assembly line, Trend informed.

On behalf of Belarus the event was attended by Vice Premier Igor Lyashenko, Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik, Gomselmash Director General Aleksandr Novikov, Belarus' Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gennady Akhramovich. Azerbaijan was represented by Ganja Mayor Niyazi Bayramov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ganja Automobile Plant, member of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) Khanlar Fatiev, and director of the plant Kamran Nazarov.

They guests were taken on a guided tour around the plant, saw the new line to assemble harvesting machines. According to Igor Lyashenko, Ganja Automobile Plant has become a family member of sorts for Belarus’ machine-building industry. “Together with Ganja Mayor Niyazi Bayramov we got familiar with the vehicles. The quality is very high. I will convey this information to President Ilham Aliyev as I meet with him at the agricultural fair which has kicked off in Baku,” the vice prime minister said.

MP Khanlar Fatiev greeted the guests and hailed the opening of the new line as a milestone event: “Today we will witness the production of the first grain harvester at the Ganja Automobile Plant. Following the instruction of head of state Ilham Aliyev, we have launched the assembly of farming machinery. We have already assembled the first electric bus in Azerbaijan to introduce modern, comfortable and eco-friendly transport in the country. Such e-buses serve well to people of Minsk. We plan to produce some 30-40% of their parts in Ganja.”

Ganja Mayor Niyazi Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan and Belarus enjoy strong friendship. “Ganja Automobile Plant is a vivid example of our bilateral relations. Tractors, harvesters and electric buses assembled at the plant are of high quality. We hope that e-bus assembling will expand in the future. I wish every success to the personnel of the plant,” he said.

The first grain harvester rolled off the line to an ovation. After that the guests test drove electric bus E-321. It was noted that the electric bus is beneficial both in terms of minimizing the negative impact on the environment and energy consumption economy. The buses, designed for 83 passengers, are equipped with 26 seats, air conditioning, an information monitor and a video monitoring system. It takes six minutes to charge the electric bus batteries. The e-bus is capable of traveling at the speed of up to 60 km/h. The plant will be able to produce 120 harvesters and 150 electric buses per year.
