First batch of Chinese armored vehicles delivered to Belarus

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus has received the first batch of China’s CS/VN3 Dragon armored vehicles, Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The first batch of ten CS/VN3 Dragon armored vehicles has recently been delivered to Belarus. China has also supplied Belarus with thirty DongFeng Warrior all-terrain vehicles.

According to Andrei Ravkov, thanks to cooperation with China Belarus’ Armed Forces modernize their technology infrastructure. Cooperation with Russia is a priority in this process. The Belarusian army also buys new products of the domestic defense industry: the Kaiman and V1 armored vehicles, the Shershen anti-tank missile, and the Polonez multiple-launch rocket system. Andrei Ravkov remarked that Polonez has been deployed at the Zapad 2017 army exercise but not used. It is taking part in tactical exercise.

The minister noted that nowadays few states can deal with big military threats, like regional armed conflicts, on their own. “It is natural that Belarus aspires to join coalitions and alliances to face these threats together. That was what we had in mind while developing the concept of the Zapad 2017 exercise,” Andrei Ravkov added.

He also underlined that Belarus does not regard the current military and political situation as a military threat.
